What are the relevant reference materials for me to read?
For general knowledge, the topics to be measured are too general; therefore there are no specific reference materials. The purpose of testing this aspect is to measure the candidate's awareness pertaining to the world, and Malaysia specifically. The other tests do not measure the candidate's cognitive aspect but their capability, inclination and personality.
How do I obtain an exemption from sitting for an examination?
There are no exemptions from sitting for any examination, except for candidates from the Appointment through Promotion (KPSL) category for the 14 Scheme of Service Special Entrance Examination.

How do I obtain an examination guide?

How can I be eligible to sit for an exam?
By completing the SPA 8 form which is then based on the schemes of services that prerequisite candidates to qualify the screening process. Candidates also can complete the 8i form which is prepared on the PSC website http://www.spa.gov.my.

Depending on the application submitted by departments/ministries and the Annual Examination Schedule.

Can I change the examination centre that has been fixed for me?
No, candidates should update examination centres by writing in to the PSC, especially after a change of address.

Can I sit for an examination after the fixed date?
No, candidates are only permitted to sit for examination that has been scheduled for them.

What are the steps to be taken if I am unable to sit for a Special Examination?
Special Examinations conducted by the PSC are a closed affair that is carried out simultaneously nationwide. If candidates find themselves unable to sit for any examination on the dates scheduled, the PSC will not reschedule the said examination. However, if the candidate's application is still valid before the next request for an intake by the department/ministry, the candidate will be called for the next exam.

What are the steps to be taken if I have not received the call letter to sit for the examination or received it after the examination date?
Ensure that the candidate's information is updated so that he/she is not excluded from sitting any of the relevant Special Examination, particularly after a change of address. Candidates are to visit the PSC website to verify that their names are enlisted to sit for examinations relevant to them.

Why am I not called for an interview after qualifying in the 14 Scheme of Service Special Entrance Exam?
Whether a candidate, who has qualified in the 14 Scheme of Service Entrance Special Exam, is called for an interview depends on the relevancy of their discipline or their Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA), especially when the number of vacant post is limited.
No, as it's only held for the intake of particular posts.

When can I obtain the result for my Special Examination?
PSC will mail out the results between 4 to 6 weeks after the exam date.

Is there no validity period for the PSC Special Examination?
There is a two year validity period for Talent Exams and a five year validity period for the 14 Scheme of Service Special Entrance Exam.

Jika gagal menghadirkan diri untuk mana-mana Ujian Khas apakah tindakan yang perlu diambil oleh calon?
Ujian Khas kelolaan SPA adalah ujian tertutup dan dijalankan serentak seluruh negara. Bagi calon-calon yang gagal menduduki mana-mana ujian pada tarikh yang ditentukan, SPA tidak menjadualkan semula ujian tersebut. Namun jika ada permohonan dari Kementerian/Jabatan ketika permohonan calon masih sah, calon akan dipanggil untuk ujian khas yang lain.

Bilakah keputusan Ujian Khas dikeluarkan?
SPA akan mengeluarkan surat keputusan kepada kesemua calon yang menduduki Ujian Khas (lulus dan kandas) antara 4 hingga 6 minggu selepas tarikh ujian tersebut.

Apakah bahan cetak yang boleh digunakan sebagai rujukan untuk menghadapi Ujian Khas?
Bagi skop pengetahuan am, topik-topik yang diukur adalah terlalu umum dan tidak ada buku-buku teks khusus untuk dibaca. Tujuan aspek ini diukur adalah untuk menguji daya kesedaran calon terhadap perkara yang berlaku di dunia sekelilingnya dan Malaysia khasnya. Skop ujian-ujian lain tidak menguji aspek kognitif calon tetapi kebolehan, kecenderungan dan personaliti.

Tidak adakah tempoh sahlaku untuk Ujian Khas SPA?
SPA mengeluarkan tempoh sahlaku dua (2) tahun untuk jawatan-jawatan yang mensyaratkan Ujian Bakat manakala lima (5) tahun bagi peperiksaan 14 Skim Perkhidmatan Gred 41, namun demikian pastikan tempoh sahlaku permohonan masih ada. Sila semak dengan SPA untuk status anda.

Bagaimana jika saya tidak menerima surat panggilan menduduki ujian atau terlewat menerimanya?
Pastikan maklumat anda dikemaskini agar tidak ketinggalan dari menduduki mana-mana Ujian Khas terutamanya pertukaran alamat.
